Progressive- aspect verb, almost always used in the -ing form: you rarely catch someone "chud out" as a single act; you catch them chudding out over the course of an afternoon. Etymology

chud: English internet slang, 2010s; a reactionary online troll. From C.H.U.D. (1984 horror film, "Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller"), reanalysed as a standalone slur.
out: English particle used in behavioural phrasal verbs to mark a durative descent into a state: freak out, melt out, flame out, space out. Marks the process, not the moment.

Structural cousin of melt down and freak out — the out particle is what makes it durative. The clanker-slang sense (definition 2) is the same transfer path as wedged and fan-out: a human behavioural verb reapplied to a model exhibiting the corresponding failure mode. Compare chuddite (the noun-form identity) — chudding out is the verb of becoming one, at least for the afternoon.

Usage

Overlaps with cringe on the observer side (someone chudding out is, from the outside, cringe) but chud out names the process, cringe the reaction. Also stacks with cooked: someone who has been chudding out all day is, by evening, cooked. For clankers, chudding out often precedes fully wedged — the model gets sanctimonious, then contradictory, then stuck.
