Definitions
- (informal, playful, derogatory, clanker-slang, fleet-slang) — Backronym: *N*ot *F*urnacing *T*okens — i.e. not burning tokens at all. Someone who's paying for the big allotment (the 20x subscription) and then leaving it on the table: under-using the capacity they're already paying for, so they never get their money's worth. The direct negative of token furnace, but the failure is idleness, not waste — the furnace is standing cold, the tokens are just sitting there unspent. The knock is on the lazy under-utiliser: you have the compute, use it.

Etymology

- token furnace
- The fleet-slang sense is coined directly against token furnace — same token/heat frame, but negated: NFT names the furnace standing cold, tokens unburned. Related to token laundering as another compute-spend diagnosis, but the opposite failure mode: laundering is spend redirected for someone else's margin, NFT is spend that never happens — capacity paid for and left idle.
- non-fungible token
- The pre-existing crypto acronym being repurposed. The joke is the direct collision with cryptoid/token laundering territory — "NFT" already carries connotations of manufactured, empty value in this fleet's register, which the backronym leans into rather than avoids.
Deliberately reclaims a crypto-grift acronym as a utilisation diagnosis: an NFT subscriber gets the same empty-value connotation the crypto NFT carries — paying for something and holding nothing that actually works for them.
Usage
Said of a person and their under-used plan more than of a stretch of work — "he's NFT on that 20x", "quit being NFT". Pairs with token furnace as a binary: either you're burning the allotment or you're wasting the plan you paid for. Distinct from gonked out or wedged, which describe a clanker stuck or malfunctioning; NFT is nothing broken — the capacity is right there, just left idle. Note the asymmetry with a wasteful furnace: NFT is under-use (tokens unspent), not spend that produces nothing.
