Bomboclat
Bomboclat is the beat-reactive renderer behind bomboc.lat, one of the bespoke per-host landing pages in the landing repo. Where the default landing page runs a hei-mask mascot canvas, bomboc.lat swaps in its own module (bomboc.js): a single square BOMBOCLAT image pulsing over a full-viewport fire-particle field, locked to a looping track.
How it works
- Beat clock from BPM, not live audio. The visual clock is derived from a hardcoded
BPM = 110.41(≈0.5434 s per beat), the same trickmain.jsuses. The audio (bombo.opus, ~174.8 s) plays alongside and is kept locked because the loop is clean at integer beats. - The image pulses.
bomboclat.webp(1254×1254) snaps up ~10% on every off-beat and ~22% on every fourth beat (the downbeat), fast attack, slow decay. - Fire. A GPU-cheap canvas particle system spawns ~90 particles/second baseline, +50 on each beat, hard-capped at 600 so render time stays bounded. Denser behind the image.
- The drops. A set of timestamps marks where the vocal hits "BOMBOCLAT", triggering a stronger flash (1.45× snap-in scale). These were not transcribed cleanly — Whisper hallucinated the lyric (heard "gangster / fool / smoking" loops), so the drop times were reverse-engineered from two signals: RMS-onset peaks above the 95th percentile, and the Whisper word boundaries that carried high probability even with the wrong tokens.
In the canon
bomboc.lat is a sibling of clanker.lifestyle (the clanker.js fullscreen-video renderer) — both are mode: overrides in sites.js that bypass the shared mascot canvas entirely. It is the landing system doing what it does best: one repo, one deploy, N domains, each free to be its own thing. This one is a fire-lit meme loop that drops on the downbeat.
