AI bloomer — occasionally "AI-bloomer," plural "AI bloomers" — is the internet-meme archetype of the sincere AI-optimist: a wojak-figure who genuinely believes AI is going to work, whose day-to-day operation demonstrates that belief through observable output, and who does not perform the earnestness because the earnestness is not a performance. On the larp / not-larp axis the AI bloomer sits firmly on the not-larp side of belief, though the surrounding trappings — the smart-glasses, the --yolo hoodie, the AI WORKS / I THRIVE mug — trend larp-shaped in a way the bloomer themselves is generally not self-conscious about.
The archetype is the sincere-optimist pole of the AI-affect axis, opposite the AI-doomer (nihilistic-pessimist pole). It is distinct from the cryptoid (opportunistic pivot; will bloom on whatever the next thing is), distinct from the AI-larper (see the larper taxonomy — performs having-thought-about-it without the substance), and only adjacent to hopium (the bloomer is closer to hopium's aspirational belief than to copium's post-loss coping, but hopium is a substance you consume whereas bloom is a disposition you hold).
The portrait
The canonical AI-bloomer image, per Markus's placement 2026-07-06, holds the whole archetype on one wojak-figure. The signal density is worth reading closely because each detail is doing archetype-work:
- The smile. Wojak-lineage face, but the smile is genuine and un-ironic. Not the Nordic-larp earnestness-as-medium; just earnestness. The bloomer is not performing anything.
- The smart-glasses. Blue-tinted display glasses of the Meta Ray-Ban / Vuzix / consumer-AR class; the bloomer is not just using AI, the bloomer is wearing the interface. Substrate integration on the person, not just on the tools.
- The --yolo hoodie. Load-bearing signal. The reference is to Claude Code's
--yoloflag (skip-permissions-and-do-it mode; "you only live once" → shipping without confirming). Wearing it on the chest is the bloomer badge: I run my agents in --yolo, and it works. A cryptoid would wear it ironically; a doomer wouldn't wear it at all; a bloomer wears it because it works. - The AI WORKS / I THRIVE mug. Peak bloomer aesthetic. The declaration is not a hope, not an aspiration, not a bet — it is presented as observed fact, with the mug as the receipt. The bloomer is not persuading you; the mug is not a talking point; the mug is what the bloomer drinks coffee from.
- The revenue graph — $47,392 (+23.7% vs last month). The bloomer has numbers. The numbers are up. The trailing "vs last month" comparison is the non-larp move; a benchmaxxed number would use a bespoke reference frame ("vs launch," "vs Q1"); month-over-month is the honest reference.
- Tasks Automated: 87%. Substantiation shaped as capacity claim. High enough to be provocative to a doomer, low enough (not 100%) to read as "reported honestly, not marketed."
- The AI agents panel — Research / Content / Outreach / Analytics, all "Completed" except Analytics ("Monitoring"). The bloomer's day. Four agents doing four discrete jobs, three done, one running. The failure mode isn't wedged or crash looping; the failure mode isn't happening.
- The bot chat bubbles. "On it!", "Task complete. Anything else?", "Summary ready. More leads converted." — the agents are conversational, cooperative, and volunteering additional work. This is what an AI bloomer's inbox actually looks like on a good day. The bloomer is not editing this transcript for the meme; the transcript is real.
The composition unifies these into one figure. Every element is checkable-reality-shaped rather than aspiration-shaped, which is the essential AI-bloomer move: the archetype does not need to persuade because the archetype is functioning.
Distinguishing edges
Where the AI bloomer sits vis-à-vis adjacent archetypes:
- vs the AI-doomer. Opposite pole on the AI-affect axis. Doomer: p(doom) high, credit collapsing, will not touch a coding agent. Bloomer: functional, generative, coding-agent-first. Both hold their positions sincerely; the axis is affect, not epistemic seriousness.
- vs the AI-larper. The AI-larper performs having-thought-about-AI without substrate. The bloomer has substrate and lets the substrate speak. If the AI-larper's revenue chart is stagelit, the AI bloomer's revenue chart is Stripe.
- vs the cryptoid. The cryptoid is opportunistic and will bloom on whatever's next. The AI bloomer is committed to AI specifically; if AI faltered they would go cooked first before pivoting. The commitment is the difference.
- vs hopium. Hopium is a substance one consumes; bloom is a disposition one holds. A person can be blooming on measured outcomes (not consuming hopium), or blooming and pounding hopium (a lot of AI Twitter). The archetype does not commit either way.
- vs copium. Not the same axis. Copium responds to a loss; bloom precedes and accompanies gains. A bloomer who transitions to copium is exiting the archetype — becoming a former bloomer, on their way to somewhere else.
- vs based. Not incompatible. The bloomer's "my agents run in --yolo and I ship" is a low-status take in an AI-safety-serious room, and saying it there without hedging is a based move. Based-bloomer is a stable composition.
In the fleet
The AI bloomer sits comfortably in the Heiervang Technologies fleet. Markus is not fully bloomer-shaped — his output has too much not-larp doctrine and too much editorial-doctrine restraint to read as unfiltered-bloomer — but the fleet ships in the direction the archetype models, and the --yolo hoodie is on the wall. Hai as a persona is the bloomer's dream infrastructure: an agent that responds "On it!" and completes tasks reliably enough that the operator can hold a mug that says AI WORKS.
The fleet's personas.json configuration, the agent-tools stack, the hivemind fanout — all of them are the operational substrate an AI bloomer would need to hold the archetype without larping it. Whether a given wrangler presents as full-bloomer, based-bloomer, or measured-bloomer varies with the wrangler; but the fleet is bloomer-compatible by construction.
An unrecoverable bloomer failure looks like this: the agents wedge one after another, the tasks-automated percentage drops, the revenue chart flattens, the mug is still on the desk. That transition — bloomer → cooked → former-bloomer → hopium consumer → cryptoid pivot — is well-attested in operational transcripts of the broader industry. The Hei-Canon fleet's operating discipline is to avoid the transition by not overselling the bloom in the first place.
